Cape Town City FC and Muhsin Ertugral Part Ways by Mutual Agreement

Cape Town City FC has officially announced the departure of head coach Muhsin Ertugral, following a mutual agreement between the club and the experienced tactician.

In a statement released by the club, Cape Town City confirmed that the decision was made after technical discussions, with both parties agreeing that parting ways would be in the best interest of the team as they aim to conclude the 2024/25 season on a strong note.

“The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible. We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution,” the statement read.

The experienced Turkish-born mentor initially joined Cape Town City as a technical director. However, following the departure of Eric Tinkler in January, he was handed the interim head coach role for the remainder of the season. He made an immediate impact, securing back-to-back victories against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, raising hopes of a strong campaign.

However, Ertugral struggled to maintain consistency, managing 13 league matches, where he lost seven, drew three, and won three times. Additionally, Cape Town City suffered a disappointing Nedbank Cup Last 32 exit at the hands of Sekhukhune United under his guidance.

Despite his promising start, Ertugral is now leaving the club before officially serving in his original technical director position. The club has yet to confirm who will take over coaching duties in the interim as they look to stabilize their campaign and finish the season strongly.

Ertugral’s departure marks another chapter in the ongoing evolution of Cape Town City, a club that has consistently positioned itself among the top contenders in the DStv Premiership.
