Bonginkosi Khanyile, a prominent Fees Must Fall activist and former MK Party youth leader, was arrested after failing to appear in court on Monday.
Khanyile, 34, is facing charges related to alleged incitement of public violence and contravention of the Riotous Assemblies Act.
In August 2024, he was apprehended for allegedly encouraging citizens to protest and commit acts of violence if his preferred political party was excluded from the electoral ballot.
Previously, in January 2019, Khanyile was sentenced to three years’ house arrest and mandated to undergo life skills courses after being convicted on public violence charges.
His recent arrest underscores ongoing legal proceedings concerning his alleged involvement in activities deemed to threaten public order and safety.
As of now, there is limited information regarding the specific charges related to his court absence. Further details are expected to emerge as the legal process unfolds.
