A warrant of arrest has been issued for television personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye by the Germiston Magistrate’s Court after he failed to appear for his criminal trial on Monday, 24 August 2026.
The 45-year-old musician missed his scheduled morning hearing to face charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and pointing an object resembling a firearm.
The magistrate chose to stay the execution of the arrest order until his next scheduled court date on 7 September 2026. This decision gives the media figure a temporary grace period. If he arrives at court on that day, the warrant will be canceled. If he fails to show up a second time, law enforcement officials will immediately activate the warrant and arrest him.
Defense lawyers explained the absence by presenting a medical certificate to the court. The document stated that Maarohanye became ill on 20 August 2026 and was booked off sick for a period of five days.
The state alleges that the criminal charges stem from an altercation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale in June 2026. Maarohanye reportedly accused the driver of having a relationship with his girlfriend, removed him from his vehicle, and fired a gunshot.
Maarohanye remains out on R5,000 bail and has maintained his innocence, claiming the allegations are entirely fabricated.
