Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of Norwegian striker Sebastian Pedersen from Sogndal Fotball, with both clubs officially confirming the permanent transfer. The 27-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Buccaneers, while the club holds an option to extend the deal by a further season.
Sogndal announced Pedersen’s departure in a farewell statement, saying: “We wish Sebastian Pedersen every success in his next adventure. For it is truly an adventure. Sebastian has been sold to Orlando Pirates in South Africa.” The transfer brings an end to the striker’s spell with the Norwegian First Division club and marks his first move to African football.
Orlando Pirates confirmed that Pedersen joins head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad ahead of the new Betway Premiership season. While the club did not disclose the transfer fee, it confirmed that the forward has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year.
Pedersen arrives with a reputation as a clinical finisher. Pirates highlighted his progression through Norway’s youth national teams from Under-15 to Under-21 and described Sogndal as one of the country’s respected talent-producing clubs. Reports indicate the striker has scored 51 senior goals in 117 appearances during his professional career, underlining the attacking qualities that attracted the Soweto giants.
The signing continues Orlando Pirates’ recruitment drive ahead of the 2026/27 campaign as the club strengthens its attacking options. Pedersen is expected to compete for a regular place in the starting line-up as Pirates prepare for domestic and continental competitions.
