The South African music scene is in an absolute frenzy after producer Mörda (formerly Murdah Bongz) unleashed a wave of nostalgia on his Instagram stories, dropping a series of emotional throwback photos with his former Black Motion partner, Thabo Smol, that has left the entire industry clutching its pearls.
The hitmaker took fans on a trip down memory lane by posting archival shots of the iconic duo during their golden era, looking exceptionally clean in sharp suits and serving their signature Afro-chic fashion. The real drama, however, hit on the final slide when Mörda switched the mood to a heavy, black screen, playing their classic track “Imali” in the background while typing out a cryptic farewell message: “Till we meet again my bro”.
Naturally, the entertainment industry and social media timelines have gone into complete overdrive trying to decode the tea. We all remember the explosive chaos of 2022 when the duo unexpectedly split after more than a decade of dominance. The separation quickly spiraled into a messy public fallout, complete with dramatic allegations and legal battles over studio equipment that kept the gossip columns buzzing for months. Mörda went on to successfully secure his own solo bag under his new moniker, while Thabo Smol kept the Black Motion banner flying with a new partner alongside pursuing his own distinct artistic paths.
Despite the bitter history, the duo has previously shown signs that their deep-seated brotherhood could not be completely erased, even finding musical reconciliation on their collaborative track “Takala”. Mörda’s latest public declaration of love has left insiders completely divided.
While some pop-culture commentators interpret the “Till we meet again” sign-off as a definitive, peaceful closing of their shared chapter, the overwhelming consensus among fans points toward a massive, unannounced reunion project or a historical anniversary tour.
Whether this is the ultimate peace offering or the start of a legendary comeback, Mörda has officially let his guard down, and the internet is practically begging these two musical giants to get back in the studio together.
