Lekau Sehoana, founder of Drip Footwear, has launched a new sneaker brand called Drip Sportif following the liquidation of his previous company. Drip Footwear was liquidated in September 2024 due to financial challenges, including a R20 million debt to advertising agency Wideopen Platform.
On January 8, 2025, Sehoana announced Drip Sportif’s upcoming launch, stating, “We’re thrilled to announce that DRIP is coming back, reborn, and stronger than ever.” The first sneaker, the Likwidz 23, was released on February 27, 2025, and is exclusively available at TAPE stores.
Despite the previous company’s challenges, Sehoana remains optimistic, reflecting, “We’ve been through the fire and came out stronger. New retail partnerships, new heat, and a new era for DRIP.”
In addition to business challenges, Sehoana is engaged in a divorce proceeding with his estranged wife, Lebogang, who claims co-ownership of Drip Footwear and is seeking a fair settlement.
Overall, Sehoana’s resilience is evident as he navigates personal and professional hurdles, aiming to establish Drip Sportif as a significant player in the sneaker industry.
