Actor Sipho Ndlovu has broken his silence after his former girlfriend, Thandeka “Shanice” Mhlanga, publicly apologised and withdrew the assault allegations she made against him in 2024. Mhlanga admitted in a video statement that the claims were false and said she had damaged the actor’s reputation.
Responding on social media, Ndlovu shared a brief but emotional message: “To everyone who stood by me through the storm, thank you. God never fails.” His response came shortly after Mhlanga confirmed she had withdrawn the gender-based violence case and apologised to him, his supporters and those whose careers were affected by the allegations.
In her apology, Mhlanga said she acted “in the heat of the moment” following the end of their relationship. She acknowledged that she should not have gone to Ndlovu’s home after they had broken up and admitted that the allegations she made against him were false.
The dispute first made headlines in July 2024 after Mhlanga accused the former The Wife actor of physically assaulting her. Ndlovu denied the allegations from the outset, claiming Mhlanga had unlawfully entered his property and that he had opened counter-charges against her, including assault, trespassing and defamation.
With the case now withdrawn, the public apology has reignited debate over the impact of false allegations, particularly in gender based violence cases. While advocates stress that false reports are uncommon compared with the scale of genuine GBV cases, they also note that unfounded accusations can cause lasting reputational, financial and personal harm to those wrongly accused.
