Nonhle Thema’s recent radio interview on 947 has sparked widespread debate after the media personality made several bold claims about her career and influence. Clips from the interview quickly spread across social media, with many South Africans sharing mixed reactions to her remarks.
Speaking to 947 presenter Thando Thabethe, Thema reflected on her rise to fame, her career in entertainment, and her life away from the spotlight. During the interview, she claimed she introduced many South Africans to Twitter after discovering the platform in the United States. She also said her family was among the first Black families to move into Bryanston in the early 1990s.
The claims immediately divided opinion online. While some users praised Thema for speaking confidently about her journey, others questioned the accuracy of some of her statements. Her claim about introducing Twitter to South Africans, in particular, was widely disputed on social media and has not been independently verified.
Beyond the controversy, many viewers praised Thando Thabethe’s handling of the interview. Clips showing the radio host’s facial expressions during some of Thema’s remarks quickly went viral, adding to the conversation surrounding the interview.
