Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena had a difficult start as Amabhakaniya Manager.
A bad start in the PSL season, being eliminated in their first round of MTN8 a few weeks ago after being knocked out in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League are the main reasons why Mokwena was having sleepless nights.
This weekend, Orlando pirates met PSL newcomers Stellenbosch United in a telkom knockout clash. Another toughest assignment for Rhulani. Loosing to Stellenbosch would have put Mokwena’s job on the line.
Pressure was written all over Mokwena’s tactics, especially the changes on his regular starting line up.
Before the Kick off, Mokwena mentioned the importance of winning this trophy, also stating that he needs to breathe and the only way he can do that is only if Orlando Pirates can start winning trophies.
Thembinkosi Lorch’s 84th minutes long blast wasnt just a superb winning goal for Orlando Pirates, but also a key to a second chance for Rhulani as the Sea Robbers Manager.
Once again, Lorch became a hero by stopping two ships from sinking at once.The 1-0 win was enough to boost Orlando Pirate’s confidence and secure their spot in the Telkom knockout tournament.
