Judging by scandals, corruption, political killings and on-going verbal and physical fights between political parties in the South African parliament. This is crystal proof that politics in South Africa has lost its meaning.
Politics in South Africa is no longer a solid method to ensure service delivery and freedom to South African citizens.
Politics is used as source of income by greedy politicians and their crime partners.
It is sad how political parties rob citizens their votes and rights through empty promises, using food parcels, home visits as leverage before elections.
During voting days, political parties spend millions of money to attract people, but when the voting process is over, we only see them on television fighting against each other over useless issues.
The main question is, for a time span of twenty three years, how has South African politics shaped South Africa as a country?
Lately, all we see is corrupt politicians using tax money to run their own businesses and to buy fancy houses, no service delivery.
From where I am standing right now, even though I am fully against apartheid laws and racism, but I feel apartheid government was more loyal to its people (white people) compared to our democratic government.
As an individual, if I were to choose between the apartheid government and democratic government. I would prefer apartheid government.
At least apartheid government remained true to white people, what about our democratic government?
Twenty three years back they promised us job opportunities, free education, service delivery and a better life but all we see is corruption and more lies. The only change we see is the introduction of more political organisations formed by former ANC members, and non stop cabinet changes. How is that making south Africa a better country?
Our democracy is characterised by xenophobic attacks, Marikana massacre, state capture, fees must fall strikes, graduates unemployment, nepotism, corruption, parliament fights, two months grant disruption, and unexpected cabinet reshuffles.
This is the opposite of what South African citizens voted for. South African politics is no longer about service delivery and to ensure better living to the citizens, politicians are misusing politics to empower themselves.
At least apartheid government was true to its laws and more specific on their mission to empower white people and oppress blacks, unlike our democratic government.
There is no equality in South Africa; politics is used as leverage by corrupt so called politicians. Under democratic government, South African politics has lost its meaning.
