Parliament has disputed Fadiel Adams’ claim that his state-issued laptop had been faulty for 18 months.
Adams made the claim before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. He said the laptop repeatedly froze and was sent to Parliament’s ICT department for repairs.
Adams also linked the laptop problems to difficulties accessing emails and responding to commission correspondence. Parliament said it reviewed its ICT Service Desk records following his claims.
The records show no persistent laptop malfunction, hardware failure or repeated freezing, Parliament said. They also show no repeated submissions of the laptop for repairs.
Parliament said the records instead reflect technical support requests during the relevant period. It said those records do not support Adams’ claim that the laptop remained faulty for 18 months.
Adams’ testimony was postponed to 19 August after his sworn statement was submitted late. The commission said the evidence leaders needed time to study his statement and supporting documents.
