Thapelo Maseko is leaving Mamelodi Sundowns for Danish side FC Copenhagen. The 22-year-old winger has reportedly agreed terms with Copenhagen. Sundowns have also agreed a transfer worth approximately R28 million.
Maseko will now begin the next stage of his career in Denmark. The move follows his successful loan spell with AEL Limassol. He used that spell to regain regular playing time and rebuild his form.
Maseko joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in 2023. He arrived at Chloorkop as one of South Africa’s promising young attackers. Competition for places later limited his opportunities with the reigning champions.
His performances overseas helped restore his reputation as a dangerous attacking player. Maseko has also remained part of the Bafana Bafana setup. The Copenhagen move gives him another chance to establish himself abroad.
Copenhagen’s interest reflects Maseko’s improved form over the past season. The Danish club will now provide him with regular European football opportunities. Maseko will hope to turn the move into a permanent breakthrough.
