March 11, 2025 — South Africa is mourning the loss of comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, who tragically passed away at the age of 31. His family has confirmed that he died by suicide, following a long battle with depression.
Dibakwane, known for his unique comedic style, gained widespread recognition after winning the Newcomer Award at the 6th annual Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in 2016. His talent and humor resonated with audiences across South Africa, and he quickly became a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
In a statement, his family expressed deep sorrow, acknowledging the immense emotional challenges Ebenhaezer faced in recent years. They thanked fans and the comedy community for their support during this difficult time.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment world, remembering Dibakwane’s contributions to comedy. His funeral will take place on Friday, 14 March 2025, in Mbombela, Nelspruit.
