South Africa Announces Fuel Price Decreases Effective March 5, 2025
In a move welcomed by consumers, South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, has confirmed that fuel prices will decrease effective Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
The price of petrol will decrease by 7 cents per litre. Diesel prices will see a reduction ranging from 17.5 to 23.5 cents per litre.
These adjustments are primarily influenced by fluctuations in international oil prices and the exchange rate between the South African rand and the US dollar.
A weaker rand and changes in global oil prices have a direct impact on the cost of importing refined fuel, thereby affecting local prices.
The new fuel prices will be applicable from Wednesday, March 5, 2025, following the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s monthly review.
Motorists are advised to take note of these changes when planning their fuel purchases.
