Zanzou Nightclub in Pretoria, South Africa, is under investigation after disturbing videos surfaced online showing bouncers allegedly assaulting a group of young men.

The footage, which was widely shared, depicted acts of physical violence and degrading treatment by the club’s security staff, including accusations of torture and sexual assault.

In response to the public outcry, the nightclub issued an apology, acknowledging the severity of the situation. They assured the public that an internal investigation was launched, resulting in the dismissal of the involved bouncers.

Furthermore, the nightclub stated that security services would now be outsourced to a compliant, registered security company to prevent future incidents.

The Gauteng police have opened a case, investigating charges of assault, rape, kidnapping, and crimen injuria. One of the bouncers has been arrested and appeared in court, where it was revealed he had a previous criminal conviction.

The incident has sparked political backlash, with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) demanding the nightclub’s closure and the arrest of its owner. The party also pledged to report the matter to the South African Human Rights Commission.

As more victims have come forward, and further footage is expected to be released, the investigation continues, highlighting the broader concerns about security practices in entertainment venues.
