Following many circulating rumors about the future of the 28-years-old Zimbabwean striker, his agent Mike Makaab, CEO of Prosport International took the stand to clear the air about his client.
Mike Makaap has confirmed that the next move on Musona’s career will be revealed after the 2019 African Cup Of Nations tournament held in Egypt.
Makaab made it clear that Musona is still contracted to Belgian giants Anderlecht, and also has more than three years left to run on his current deal which makes things difficult for any club not in a top European league to win his signature.
After an impressive season with KV Oostende, where he netted 41 goals and made 18 assist since he joined the Belgian side from the Bundersliga giant killers Hoffeinham in 2015. Musona joined Anderlecht in January 2018 on a four years deal.
Musona’s move to Anderlecht had a rough start.
He was not given a regular game time and was loaned to KSC Loreken on the second half of the 2018/19 Jupiler league season in January 2019.
His journey at Loreken was not an impressive one. He played 16 games, scored two goals and had 2 assists.
In an interview with Zimbabwe’s News Day Sport, the Zimbabwean “Smiling Assassin” admitted to wanting a move away from Anderlecht . Many clubs, including his former South African club are on the look to secure his signature.
Musona had a successful history with the PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs, where he scored 35 premiership goals over 3 seasons. It is not a secrete that the Glamour Boys will go all out to lure their former striker back at Naturena, even though it looks impossible at this stage.
Mike Makaab said: “Knowledge has a long-term contract with Anderlecht once his loan with Lokeren expires, and his long-term goal is to remain at a top level in Europe for as long as possible.”
“We’ll obviously assess things when his loan ends, but coming back to South Africa is not even on his radar at this point in time, and to be honest it would take huge money to even consider doing so.”
Musona is the part of the Zimbabwean national team participating in the 2019 Africa cup of nations tournament in Egypt.
Zimbabwe’s first match will see them locking horns against the hosts in the group A opening match of the tournament on the 21 June.
