Fadiel Adams’ testimony before the Madlanga Commission has been postponed to 19 August 2026.
Adams, the National Coloured Congress leader and MP, was subpoenaed to testify on Tuesday, 11 August. He was expected to address allegations involving classified information and his complaints about corruption within the criminal justice system.
However, Commission evidence leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson requested that Adams’ testimony be postponed. The Commission agreed to move his appearance to next Wednesday, 19 August.
The postponement followed Adams’ late submission of his statement and supporting documents. The documents reached the Commission after 9pm on Monday, leaving little time for the evidence team to prepare.
Adams blamed the delay on problems with his parliamentary laptop. He said the laptop had been freezing, making it difficult to complete and submit his statement.
The Commission had reportedly been requesting Adams’ statement since October 2025. Chaskalson raised concerns about the late submission despite the lengthy correspondence.
The Commission instead continued hearing evidence from IDAC prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamy on Tuesday.
Ramsamy has previously challenged evidence given by former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson. Her testimony has focused on internal disputes and controversial decisions within IDAC.
Adams’ eventual testimony is expected to focus on his involvement with an IDAC investigation. He has also made allegations concerning corruption and the handling of sensitive information.
