DJ Maphorisa denied the social media claims that he exploited Samthing Soweto.
On Tuesday, social media was buzzing as users were calling for Maphorisa to be cancelled in the entertainment industry for not crediting Samthing Soweto for their song Amalanga Awafani after its release.
Maphorisa, the Amapiano DJ and producer whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, went live on instagram to defend himself and blaming Samthing Soweto for not putting in hard work on the song. The clip has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped on the internet.
He claimed a misunderstanding between himself and Samthing Soweto led to the song’s release without proper credits for the vocalist.
Replying to social media posts about the song, Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, popularly known as Samthing Soweto, posted a broken heart.
Maphorisa said: “Im not the problem here, after everything i did for the game. He is the problem,”
The award winning DJ has been the hot topic on social media in the past few months, as many young artists were accusing him of gatekeeping the industry, and several stars have openly called him out.
DJ Maphorisa concluded by asking the fans not to blame Mas Musiq for the fight over song credits, but rather to hold him responsible.
